Julie's Final Thoughts
I want to just share a few final thoughts.
Sometimes, I hear people say that they don't think they can homeschool. Because they aren't patient enough, or smart enough, or don't have the right educational background for it, or whatever.
I really believe that if you want to make it work, that parents are the best equipped to teach their children what they need to know.
Here are some facts taken directly from NHERI's Facts on Homeschooling:
- "Homeschool students score above average on achievement tests regardless of their parents’ level of formal education or their family’s household income."
- "Whether homeschool parents were ever certified teachers is not related to their children’s academic achievement."
- "Home-educated students typically score above average on the SAT and ACT tests that colleges consider for admissions."
- "Homeschool students are increasingly being actively recruited by colleges."
I know many of you are just trying this thing out to see how it goes, or are definitely only planning on homeschooling for this one year during crazy covid.
But I secretly hope you'll love it and end up staying with it ;)
Best of luck! Have fun!
